In early January, Robin and Becky, the owners of the highly respected ‘Cotswolds Secret Cottage’ tour (No. 1 on TripAdvisor for tours in the Cotswolds), kindly invited me to attend their new ‘Mystery Cotswolds Tour’.  Just like the local experiences, we provide at ‘Around & About Bath’ this new tour is all about taking small groups coming to the northern Cotswolds, the opportunity to see the local area and get under its skin.   Of course, I jumped at the chance!

The day began with a pick up at Moreton on the Marsh train-station.  A convenient pick up point for guests travelling from London wanting to spend the day in the Cotswolds.  Our driver was Robin (a different one!) and he immediately put us at ease with his relaxed style and affable nature.  Being mid January, it was not surprising that we were not a large group and whilst the tour can accommodate up to eight guests, on this day it was three of us: Myself and two lovely ladies from the states.  We set off with no idea of where we were heading but excited at the prospect of seeing a little of the hidden Cotswolds.

The tour did not disappoint.  As it is a ‘mystery’ tour I am not at liberty to divulge exactly where we went, but rest assured it was a great day out.  We visited well known, and not so well known villages, grand country estates, beautiful towns and hidden gems.  As someone who knows the Cotswolds well, I was pleased to discover a few things that I did not know and a few places I had not been to before.  Robin our driver was fabulous too.  He engaged all of us with his enthusiasm and love of the area, providing some fascinating insights into the history, people and geography of what we were seeing.  We were well fed and watered too.  We stopped for coffee in the morning at a community teashop, enjoyed lunch in a traditional English pub, and had time in the afternoon to wander around one of the Cotswolds most picturesque towns.

It was a fabulous day out and I am certain it will be as great a success as Robin and Becky’s ‘Secret Cottage tour’ already is.  If you’re keen to explore the northern Cotswolds in a unique and personal manner, please do take a peek at their website at for their Secret Cottage tour or for their new ‘mystery’ tour.

I really can recommend the experience and cannot think of a better way to see this part of the UK.

Thank you Robin, Becky and Polly and best of luck!
